The Shawshank Redemption (1994), has been considered by many to be one of the greatest movie of all time. Starring Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman, the story consists of a relativaley young banker named Andy Dufresne who was convicted of killing his cheating wife and her lover. Andy is sentenced to two life sentences back to back during the course of his stay in Shawshank Prison; There he meets a fellow inmate and later friend, Otis "Red" Redding. Over the course of 20 years, these two find solace and eventual redemption through common acts of decency. The settings is Northeast America in the years 1947-1967; mostly set in the prison itself.
This movie is incredible in almost every way, shape, and form. It does a fantastic job of showing how human nature isn't as one dimensional as many people come to see it. You come to love and connect with alot of the main inmates, including Andy and Red themselves; but you also come to hate and distrust the warden and the guards throughout the movie. BUY this on netflix if you haven't already seen this, you'll enjoy it as much as the last guy.
